The Artist: Don Frey

Going through the "journey" and watching your wife change inside and out has an impact on your life. One outflow of that impact for Don has been returning to one of his passions -painting on canvas.

Don has been defining an original technique of combining the essence of nature within a painted canvas. Per Frey, "As you look at an archeological dig, they map everything out in perfect squares and examine everything within that square. I am doing the same thing with my art. Rather than paint an entire field, I look at the overall color and texture of the field and recreate that visual on canvas, in a perfect square."

The art will first be displayed as a painting in the musical, Unbeatable. In the show the storyline of the husband is that he is an artist and he has been commissioned to paint flowers. What he normally paints is 'bleak' and 'real'. As the story unfolds and the range of emotion is experienced, a piece of art is used as a device in a pivotal moment.

In conjunction with the musical, the goal is to have a "Don Frey" gallery show near the theatre.
